Mungiki sect leader Maina Njenga on Saturday led his followers in a demonstration along Nyahururu town streets against Kanu parliamentary nominations in Laikipia West constituency.
Njenga claimed Kanu Director of Elections, Mr William Ruto, rigged him out in favour of a prominent Nyahururu businessman, Ndegwa Muruthi, at the 11th hour.
Tension gripped the town when the angry sect adherents confronted Muruthi at the local branch offices and frog-marched him out.
The sect leader was declared the winner a fortnight ago after he polled over 19,000 votes against Muruthi’s 1,600 but his candidature was later nullified.
Njenga and the immediate former MP, Mr Chege Mbitiru, claimed they will wreak havoc from within Kanu until justice prevails. But in a quick rejoinder, local Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign cordinator, Kariuki Muruatetu, warned Njenga against meddling in Kanu campaigns.
