I was healed at Benny Hinn Crusade

A former prostitute who had a life changing experience at the Benny Hinn Crusade at the Queen’s Park Savannah in 1999, has come forward with her dramatic story of healing and restoration.

Sandra Ramsingh-Bally admitted that she too had once been a sceptic and had even referred to Hinn as a “false prophet.” However, she is now a believer and said she was healed of a crippling condition during the crusade six years ago. Ramsingh-Bally said her life was completely turned around after she attended the event at the Queen’s Park Savannah. She said she had to be taken to the venue because she had been crippled as a result of a childhood injury. However, she left walking and has enjoyed good health since then.

Her story is radically different from the well publicised case of Marcano Siewkumar who first claimed he had been healed at the crusade but later recanted his story when his condition worsened.

Siewkumar, who was suffering from heart disease, kidney failure and hypertension, died 33 days after being prayed for at the crusade.

Ramsingh-Bally said she had a troubled childhood. She had been sexually molested from as early as nine-months-old by a male relative. “I come from a Hindu background and they believe in arranged marriages. I was just 15-years-old and my relatives said, ‘Either you take this, or you take the street.’ What was I going to do at that age, the age of 15? You get engaged, you get married you go on with your life,” she recalled.

Her husband who was 11 years her senior and was in the military was controlling and abusive.

Ramsingh-Bally said she suffered two nervous breakdowns while pregnant and had to be warded at the St Ann’s Hospital.

Then her husband told her he had found another woman and left. Ramsingh-Bally found herself, a young mother of three, illiterate, with no means to support herself and her children.

She went to friend who offered to help. “She said, ‘You really pretty. I could get a job for you, don’t worry about that.’”

That was how she got involved in prostitution. For many years that was how she earned a living. She admitted that she participated in orgies, got involved in lesbianism. Ramsingh-Bally said she “became so professional” that she eventually set up her own brothel, catering to a high-class clientele that included politicians and businessmen. She said she was arrested several time for prostitution, including once during one of the biggest raids ever in this country. She did time in prison but “still didn’t learn anything.”

During that time, however, her brother became a Christian and he would pray for her and encourage her to change her life. She refused to listen to him. She was involved in a same-sex relationship and continued to work as a prostitute. She was raped three times, including one brutal attack at gunpoint.

Her days as a prostitute ended abruptly just a few months before Benny Hinn held his first crusade in this country in 1999. After a successful night during which she earned $9,000, Ram-singh-Bally woke up the next morning unable to get out of her bed — she could not walk.

She was taken to a doctor and was told that an old childhood injury had severely affected her back, crippling her. She went to several medical doctors, as well as obeah practitioners, trying to get healing. However, nothing worked.

Ramsingh-Bally was en-couraged to attend the Benny Hinn crusade by her brother.

The turning point for her was the second night of the crusade. “I remember feeling something like electricity running through my body . . . like fire. It felt like nothing I had ever felt in my entire life. I was just in awe.” She said she put down her feet and for the first time in six months, she walked.

Now remarried and living abroad, Ramsingh-Bally, an ordained minister, together with her husband has established Healing Through the Blood Ministries. She travels around the world, preaching and ministering, regularly sharing the testimony of how she was saved and healed.

She is of the view that her complete healing and the dramatic transformation in her life came about because she walked away from her old lifestyle and embraced a new life as an Evangelical Christian.

“When you get healed, you can’t go back to your old lifestyle,” she said.
