Britney Spears has coughed up £18,000 to the controversial Kabbalah cult – just in time for her baby’s birth next month.

On the orders of Madonna – the cult’s biggest cheerleader – the pop princess has stumped up the cash to the faith’s offshoot for children.

The singer and hubby Kevin Federline have been told by Madge, who got Brit hooked on the movement, to get her tot into the system.

And 3am can reveal that Britney, who plans a Kabbalah blessing for the infant, has eased the passage of baby Spears into the movement by giving cash to the Spirituality For Kids section of the church.

A source close to the 23-year-old reveals: “Britney made the charity donation last month. Madonna suggested Spirituality For Kids because she thinks it’s amazing.

“She has told her that introducing her baby to Kabbalah as soon as possible will be greatly beneficial to everyone involved in the child’s upbringing.”

Cult members wear red string bracelets and the group claims its special water cures cancer.

But despite Brit’s enthusiasm for her wacky faith, which counts Demi Moore and Brittany Murphy as fans, not everyone in the Spears clan is keen on the star ditching her Christian roots.

The source goes on: “Britney hasn’t made a big deal of her gift because some of her family are suspicious of Kabbalah.

“But she thinks Madonna’s a great role model and would never question her advice.”

Britney caught up with her spiritual adviser last Friday when they went to LA’s Kabbalah centre together.

Our source says: “Britney was being really clucky with Lourdes throughout the service.

“She thinks she’s adorable and would love her baby to grow up like her.”
