Memphis Family Involved in High-Speed Chase May be Linked to Cult
A high-speed chase with police ends in disaster for one Memphis family. The mom wrecks, and her three kids are hurt.
The strangest part of this story, however, police say the mom calls her kids by numbers not names. They say the family was headed off join a cult.
Relatives in Memphis told Eyewitness News Monday night that they were going to California to see an aunt, but there are reports out of Oklahoma City, saying the driver, Rene Moore, told police they were going to California to join a cult.
It started with stop sticks. Sixteen miles later it ended when the SUV rolled over, crushing the roof and cracking the windshield.
Three children including a two-month old baby were inside. None of them had seatbelts on. From the back of a squad car, Moore reportedly told Oklahoma state troopers she never saw them.
She also asked to be called Rath Lovebody, instead of her given name. Her husband, John Rhyne was taken away on a stretcher.
The SUV is registered in his name at his house in Memphis.
Eyewitness News is trying to get more information on the family’s link to a cult. Neighbors say they don’t know the family well but there was no sign of cult like activity.
TV stations in Oklahoma City are reporting that Rene Moore, A.K.A Rath Lovebody faces a felony charge of eluding police.
