MEP demands full investigation
The mysterious death of a Jewish student, who was run over after attending a meeting of a far-right organisation two years ago, should be fully investigated, said a London MEP.
In a speech to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the Liberal Democrat European Justice spokeswoman Baroness Sarah Ludford called on her fellow MEPs to lend support to get the death of Jeremiah Duggan, of Dunstan Road, Golders Green, properly investigated. Baroness Ludford said: “All the evidence points to the fact that Jeremiah’s death was linked to his involvement with a mad, but also dangerous and secretive, anti-Semitic cult.
“Since he was Jewish, this is significant, but there seems to be a wilful determination by the authorities to ignore the context.”
Duggan, 22, a student at the Sorbonne in Paris, died on March 27, 2003, after attending a conference in Wiesbaden, Germany, run by the LaRouche Youth Movement, which is believed to have anti-Semitic leanings.
He called his mother on the night he died to warn her that he was in trouble. Forty-five minutes later, he was run over by three cars on a motorway.
German authorities will not re-open the case, believing it to be a routine suicide, despite a British inquest into Jeremiah’s death ruling this out.
